Cannot download ios apps over netgear wifi
But good suggestions, I will share with the guy I pay to be more knowledgeable than me. I did think of a few things overnight to try and isolate the cause more. Megan, Thanks also for the words of wisdom. I had already tried all those steps. I'll see if I can commandeer someone's laptop, put it on the wifi, and test it that way. I hadn't thought to try that. I also talked with someone who has personal devices on our wifi. There's some FB game that our network won't let her play during lunch , but then brought in her iPad and is able to play the same game without errors.
She claims both devices are on same version of iOS. I don't know enough about Apple devices to begin to figure out why. How do I allow iTunes apps and firmware downloads through the firewall appliance?
Make sure the follow ports are open iTunes: 80, , , , , , , and After some mysteriously disappearing emails and other failed attempts, the issue has been resolved. Thanks to all who contributed. Sorry for the long delay between postings and resolution, I don't usually let things hang that long. Sometimes things are just beyond your control. Don't forget that your full follow-up can also help others who may experience this same problem in the future and come across your Topic!
Were you able to pinpoint anything specifically, or was it just a combined "did all of this and it worked" that took care of it? Did your support guy figure things out after seeing the SYN error going to the Resolution was as listed in the marked best answer - policy was added to the firewall to specifically open all those ports. I'm not sure what all he tried, just that it took him several attempts before finally creating the policy and adding all the listed ports.
That's when it started working. About the disappearing email: he said he had responded to me a few days after I emailed him letting him know about the SYN error, but I have no record of receiving the email. I even checked my shadow on our mail server, and there is no incoming email from him in that week. Took 2 weeks before he followed up to see why I hadn't responded to his email, and that's when I found out about the email I didn't receive.
I do appreciate everyone's time put towards providing suggestions and helping resolve this. The above 'failure to communicate' is why I let it sit so long before coming back. I realize that everyone is providing assistance on their own time and am usually much quicker at trying solutions and responding. Posted by ejeaglesct. Downloaded iOS 14 yesterday.
Both of my wireless connections refused to stay connected for more than a couple minutes. No issues with any other wireless connections in the house.
