There is an excellent collection of individual windows and DOS modules for several statistical calculations, including some analyses not readily available elsewhere.
There are two spreadsheets available, a spreadsheet that does demographic analysis and another spreadsheet for the calculation of intracorrelation coefficients. The spreadsheets are in Microsoft Excel file format; If you have MS Excel installed on the computer, your computer will start up Excel and load the spreadsheet into Excel automatically after you double click the procedure name.
These DOS procedures programs are no longer maintained, except for bug fixing, and generally, have limited statistical capabilities. Statistical Software by Paul W. Organisations and companies around the world are jumping on the bandwagon of data analysis in order to understand customer expectations on one hand and ensure data driven quality programs on the other hand.
With an explosion of data taking place in many organisations, it is a blessing that there are many software options available for data and statistical analysis. From simple tools like a calculator to customized solutions tailored to meet your individual requirements, statistical tools are gaining immense importance and popularity for brands across all sectors. So unless brands want to spend countless hours with repetitive calculations or million dollars that might ruin their budget expenditure, it is better to invest in a statistical analysis package that can perform functions without being too expensive or less effective.
That being said, there are a number of free statistical analysis software tools available in the market, that can be implemented by companies to fulfill their data goals and objectives. So how do companies decide the best statistical analysis software package that can meet their needs in a comprehensive manner. Overall, choosing the right statistical analysis tools can be a complex decision. That is why it is important to look at some important things before deciding which tool can effectively help brands reach their objectives in a systematic and comprehensive fashion.
Here are some important considerations that companies must keep in mind, before finally deciding the statistical analysis software tool that they would want to employ:. Among the first things that any company must consider while investing in statistical analysis software, is the people who are going to use them. Are they going to be expert statistics, relative professionals or someone who was a mix of both?
Will data be analysed on a regular basis or during a fixed duration? Will data analysis be the main job of the analysts or will it just be one of the many jobs that they do for the company? Are they adept at using computer systems or is it just something that has become a part of their job profile? By understanding the people who are going to be using the statistical analysis software, companies can make better decisions as it will help them choose one that suits their needs and capabilities.
If you choose a system that is complicated and your team is relatively filled with interns, then the investment might not be so helpful and vice versa. In addition, it is important that if the members of your team span a number of regions and demographics, investing in a statistical analysis software that has multiple language options might be a very good idea. Different data analysis tools have different levels of experience required for their use.
This is not exactly a bad thing thing because different professionals have different levels of expertise required. While an expert statistician would in most probability know how to set up data in a correct manner as well enter statistical equations in a command-line interface, a less experienced person may be intimated by the same.
A menu based interface might be better suited for them. Also, many statistical analysis software packages comes with manuals and instruction pages to make them familiar with the package. That being said, the ease with which these softwares can be used is something that every brand must consider so that they can use choose one that can be used by the data analytics team in a simple and effective fashion.
Also make sure that you choose a software that allows for different interface options. That way it becomes easier to customise the interface according to the capability of the data user in charge. The people in the company must be adept at dealing with the software.
Either they will want someone in the organisation who knows all about the software or invest in someone who does. If in case, your company is looking to support them for assistance from the software personnel end, it is better to check on it before actually investing in the said software. Sometimes software personnel only offer assistance when it comes to analysis problems and sometimes with installation and IT issues.
Hello Tariq, If there is a limit is probably something like 65, elements, which is much higher than 1, Thank you for the great statistic support. Very informative and supportive to learn different things with great calculation guidelines. RealStats is asking for a password? I have successfully installed this on another computer.
Hello James, Are you using Windows? See Password Prompt. See Password Prompt Charles. Charles, After downloading the most up-to-dated version, I should see the version 6. However, when I typed, I see the following:. Hello Sun, The latest version is 6. This could happen if you still have an old version of the Real Statistics with a check mark next to it when you press Alt-TI. Charles, I think I know why I was having the version issue.
When I downloaded, I must have clicked the link next to the Excel instead of the most updated version for the higher Excel version.
Hi Charles, I have found an elegant solution to the Solver-Realstats conflict. Kind regards, Christian. Hi Christian, Thank you for sharing this. This is very helpful. Shortly, I will create a new release with this sort of change. Hi Charles, I was aware of the workaround, thank you. This info maybe helps to solve the problem… Kind regards, Christian. On the desktop where the problem occurs, first RealStats is loaded and then Solver.
Maybe this helps. Kind regards and once again many thanks for your great tool! Hi Charles I had the same installation problem in my new notebook that has the latest Excel version installed last weekend but not in my desktop that did not receive the last upgrade yet.
It seems there is a conflict with solver but only during start-up, for now I found this workaround: Deactivate realstats, activate solver and close the book and Excel.
Start Excel, open a new book and then activate realstats. Everything works fine Add-ins tab appears in the options ribbon, etc. Before leaving Excel deactivate realstats so as to not get the conflict with solver next time. You can activate realstats again once Excel is running the conflict is only at start-up, at least that is what I found so far. Thanks for your excellent software! Thanks for sharing this, Gerardo. I have now added an FAQ with your suggestion. If this keeps happening, disable this add-in and check for available updates.
Do you want to disable it now? One other thing. Solver must be activated first, before Realstats, or it will cause Excel to crash. So if you get the error message I mentioned above and disable Solver, you then have to go into the Add-Ins options screen, disable Realstats, then enable Solver, and then re-enable Realstats to keep Excel from crashing, and then remember to disable Realstats before closing Excel at the end of a session.
Again, this add-in has made Excel so much more useful than it was before—thanks again for all your work on this! Hi Bob.
In any case, I will try to investigate this further. Hi Bob, I have just created a macro which I hope provides a temporary fix. Hi Gerardo, I have just created a macro which I hope implements your procedure and provides a temporary fix. Hi Charles, Love this piece of software! Well done! Unfortunately since changing computer I came upon problem with installation and wondering if anyone experienced the same: with solver in when installing Realstats.
Upon starting it again I am getting the message that excel has problem with solver and the question if I want disable solver. Only way to run excel from this point is to turn solver off with Realstats showing in the context menu. But I believe that Realstats will not work correctly without the solver… Any ideas what can be wrong? Thank you in advance! Hi Andy, Glad that you like the Real Statistics software. One other person just reported a similar problem, but otherwise I had not heard of this specific problem.
What differences are there in the two computers operating system and version of Excel? Do you have any other information that might help me isolate the problem? Hi Charles, Thank you for reply! So far I have tried changing Realstats.
Gerardo solution is the only one which works but it is a bit of a pain, esp. Thanks Andy for the feedback.
